What is Triple Extension?
Triple extension is a common movement performed with many different activities. Some of these activities include Olympic lifting, jumping rebounds, sprinting and even gymnastic movements like back flips. A key point to remember with a triple extension are the 3 joints that perform the movement:
- Hip extension
- Knee extension
- Ankle plantarflexion
There are other movements that you may hear about that can be tied with a triple extension (e.g. shoulder retraction) but for the simplicity of this post, we just focus on the basics of a triple extension. Here's a great video illustrating the movement and a few exercises that can be used to develop a perfect triple extension.
What other exercises have you done that implements a triple extension movement? I hope you enjoyed this brief post, and look forward to seeing your comments!
